MARVEL Tōkon Tag-Team Guide

Practice the four-slot tag-team question in MARVEL Tōkon while leaving unverified tag rules for live testing.

MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls is officially described as a 4v4 tag-team fighter. That tells you the team and the handoff matter, but the Steam page does not define every rule for active slots, assists, resources, tag timing, or recovery. This guide gives you a safe practice sequence for learning the handoff in the live game without importing rules from another fighter.

Evidence status: 4v4 tag-team format is Official. Exact tag inputs, cooldowns, costs, invulnerability, assist rules, and neutral behavior are Needs live testing.

Begin with one handoff

Select two characters and leave the remaining slots unchanged until the first transition is understood. In Training Mode, perform a neutral reset, establish a simple opening, and try the handoff. Record the exact button or menu action shown by the current control layout. Repeat from both sides of the screen and write down the resulting distance and opponent state.

The goal is not to create a long combo. It is to learn whether the handoff happens where you expect. Use Controls if the input itself is inconsistent and 4v4 Composition when the question becomes a team job.

Test three contexts

First test from neutral. Then test after a confirmed hit. Finally test after a blocked or missed approach if the live training menu allows it. A tag that works in one context may be unsafe or unavailable in another. Do not call a tag “safe” until you have defined the opponent action, side, stage, and current build.

If the game displays a resource, timer, or prompt, record it exactly. If no explanation is visible, mark the observation as live testing. A video can show timing but cannot by itself prove that every character shares the same handoff rule.

Add the third and fourth slot carefully

Once a two-character transition is repeatable, add a third character for a stated reason. You may want a different range, a simpler conversion, or a recovery option. Add the fourth only after you know when it enters and what problem it solves. The official store encourages team composition experiments; it does not publish a fixed four-role system.

Keep character identity separate from costumes and lobby items. The Characters index owns playable roster evidence; the Editions hub owns cosmetic and pass scope.

Practice stage and mode changes

The store says some stages have interactive transitions. Repeat the same handoff on a stage with a transition cue if the live game lets you select it. Record whether the camera, spacing, or opponent position changes. Do not assume a transition grants a universal advantage or is active in every mode.

Practice offline first. The product page lists local and offline content, then online PvP and cross-platform multiplayer with a PlayStation Account and internet requirement. An online handoff can be harder to reproduce because of connection and opponent behavior, so use a private room only after the local test is clear.

Recover from a failed tag

If the handoff never appears, check the control setting, required state, and whether the current slot is eligible. If it appears but creates a bad position, reduce the sequence to neutral and observe the entry distance. If it works in Training but not local Versus, check whether the opponent action changed the state. If it works locally but not online, reproduce it offline before changing the lineup.

Write one recovery sentence in the guide: “When this test fails, return to neutral, check the visible prompt, and repeat with the same character order.” Avoid a generic promise that a particular tag will always work.

Tag-team FAQ

Does 4v4 prove all four characters fight simultaneously?

No. It proves the product is framed as a four-versus-four tag-team fighter. Active-slot and handoff behavior needs live confirmation.

Should I practice a tag inside a long combo?

No. Start with one neutral or confirmed-hit handoff, then add complexity only after it is repeatable.

Are tag costs the same for every character?

Do not assume so. Record the live UI or official documentation for each relevant character.
